Every morning, in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or
it will be killed.
Every morning, in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or
it will starve to death.
The moral:It doesn't matter if you are a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up,
you better be running.
Park the above moral for a while, we shall get back to it.
In reply to a blog that Dewaker wrote last evening (http://24hoursinspired.blogspot.com/), on questions on innovations from a mango seller,he and I had a long discussion on innovation and the necessity for entrepreneurs to ceaselessly innovate. The reason? Every morning an entrepreneur wakes up in the city. He ought to know that he must run faster than the fastest entrepreneur or he will be over-thrown. He ought to know that he should be able to cater to the market far more than the nearest entrepreneur trying to catch up.He ought to innovate, amuse the market with his latest creation, and not just be faster than the fastest entrepreneur, but also ensure that it takes at least his lifetime for the nearest entrepreneur to catch up.Therefore, every striving entrepreneur is always the gazelle of the market and not the lion. The day he thinks he is the lion, he only looks at saving himself from starving to death only to find, too soon, that the closest entrepreneur just went past him and now, he is probably back to being a gazelle, or worse, a nobody.
Now, go back to the moral that we had parked.
everything is ok... but one small flaw .... Lions dont hunt.. they are pretty lazy so they just eat... lionesses hunt :)
ReplyDeleteAll the more why entrepreneurs should not think like the lion :)They will not only stop innovating, but also delegate the work to their wives :)
ReplyDelete:) neat revision of the discussions we have had :)
